DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, November 3. Visa International payment cards' share among banking payment cards in Tajikistan was just 7.9 percent, as of September 30, 2023, Trend reports.
According to data from Tajikistan's National Statistical Bank, another foreign system, MasterCard, accounts for even less, accounting for only 0.3 percent of all cards.
Tajikistan's 'Korti Milli' national payment cards account for 56.4 percent of all cards in circulation, followed by 'ExpressPay Korti' at 15.2 percent, 'UnionPay-Korti Milli' at 12.5 percent, local bank cards at 5.2 percent, and UnionPay at 0.6 percent.
Tajikistan had 6.4 million bank payment cards in circulation as of September 30, 2023. When compared to the same period in 2022 (4.7 million cards), the figure increased by 37.4 percent.
As of March 31, 2023, Tajikistan had 64 credit and financial institutions in existence, comprising 14 traditional banks, 1 Islamic bank, 1 non-bank credit organization, 19 microcredit deposit organizations, 3 microcredit organizations, and 26 microcredit funds.
