TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, February 14. The construction of the Buyuk Ipak Yuli (Great Silk Road) special industrial technopark has begun in Uzbekistan's Almalyk, the administration of the Tashkent region told Trend.
This project is being developed in partnership with China's Zhejiang Holley Global Industry Development on a designated 227-ha site.
The technopark will host around 100 enterprises specializing in electrical engineering, textiles, building materials, and pharmaceuticals. The initiative is expected to generate over 12,000 new jobs. Additionally, the park aims to export products worth approximately $120 million annually while reducing imports by $80 million.
The construction will be carried out in two phases. Since January, work has been underway on a 13 ha site where the main infrastructure facilities are being built, including a two-story exhibition center, a three-story office building, a logistics center, small refrigeration units, and transformer production.
To note, the governor of Tashkent region, Zoyir Mirzayev, visited the site earlier to inspect the ongoing works. In the course of the visit, he instructed on the finalization of the general plan and full provision of engineering and communication networks of the special industrial zone.
