BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 2. As many as of 1.3 million tons of non-oil products, valued at $152 million, were exported via the Khorramshahr Customs of Khuzestan Province located southwestern Iran during the ten months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024 through January 19, 2025), Director General of Iran's Khorramshahr Customs office Gholamreza Nikraftar told reporters, Trend reports.
According to Nikraftar, a variety of goods were exported through Khorramshahr customs to several countries during the ten months, with the main destinations being Iraq, Kuwait and the UAE.
He highlighted that the exports mainly included reinforcement materials, cement, decorative stones, and food products.
Additionally, Nikraftar noted that during this period, approximately 168,000 tons of goods, valued at $756 million, were imported through the Khorramshahr customs. This marked a 17 percent increase in value and a 27 percent rise in volume compared to the same period last year.
The official also pointed out that main imports through Khorramshahr included fabrics, tires, car spare parts, road construction machinery, and computer components.
Khorramshahr customs plays a vital role in trade with Iraq and Kuwait, owing to its strategic location near these countries.
To note, Iran's exports of non-oil products totaled $47.8 billion during ten months of the current Iranian year. This is an 18 percent higher than the same period of last year.
