BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 18. A total of 22.3 trillion rials ($38.5 million) were spent on highways commissioned on March 17 in the Sistan and Baluchestan Province located in southeastern Iran, Trend reports via Iran's Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.
A ceremony was held on March 17 in the above province with the participation of local officials to mark the inauguration of certain sections of the highways.
As many as of 56 kilometers of highways have been commissioned in Sistan and Baluchestan province. These include 16 kilometers of the Iran-Shahr-Khash highway, 11 kilometers of the Zahidan-Khash highway, four kilometers of the second lane on the Chabahar-Nikshahr-Iran-Shahr highway, three kilometers of the second lane on the Chabahar-Konarak highway, 12 kilometers of the Karvan-Konarak highway, and 10 kilometers of the Chabahar-Pasaband-Gwadar highway.
The total length of roads in Sistan and Balochistan province within the international corridors is about 1,600 kilometers.
To date, work has been completed on 671 kilometers of these highways.
