Israeli warplane strikes house in Gaza, 5 civilians killed

At least five Palestinian civilians were killed on Wednesday night when an Israeli F-16 warplane struck a house in central Gaza City, witnesses and medics said.

Witnesses said that a house, located in the densely-populated area of Sabra in central Gaza City, was struck by one heavy air-to- ground missile, adding that five were killed and several people were under the rubble, Xinhua reported.

Local radio stations reported on Wednesday night that five were killed and 10 wounded in the Israeli airstrike on the house in Sabra neighborhood, adding that rescue teams and firefighters arrived at the scene and evacuated the victims.

In another Israeli airstrike, one child was killed and the other man was injured on a motorcycle at al-Garara village east of the southern Gaza Strip town of Khan Younis, medics said.

Gaza emergency chief Mo'aweya Hassanein said that six Palestinians were killed in two separate airstrikes on al-Garara village and on Sabra neighborhood in central Gaza City.

Hassanein said on Wednesday night that the Israeli army had killed on Wednesday more than 28 Palestinians and wounded about 80 others, adding that the death toll had hit 1,017 with more than 4, 600 wounded.

Meanwhile, Hamas movement leader in Gaza Salah el-Bardaweel told reporters in Cairo on Wednesday evening that his movement has presented its views on the ceasefire offer to the Egyptian side, adding "Egypt would convey our response to Israel and we will wait for the Israeli response."
