Moldova's supreme court on Friday ordered a vote recount for the country's recent parliamentary elections, the RIA news agency reported.
The recount would review the results of a November 28 parliamentary election won by the Communist Party.
The Communists, though clear victors in the vote, had submitted a brief to the high court alleging election law violations giving their pro-Europe opponents excess seats in parliament.
Violations included voters casting multiple ballots and errors in adding up ballot totals, Communist lawyers said.
International observers rated the election generally free and fair.
If the election results are upheld, Moldova's 101-seat parliament will be split 42 seats to the Communists, 32 seats to the centre- right Liberal Democrats, 15 seats to the centre-left Democratic Party, and 12 seats to the centre-right Liberals.
