5.7-magnitude quake hits off east coast of Honshu, Japan

An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale jolted off the east coast of Honshu, Japan, at 08:08:20 GMT on Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey said, Xinhua reported.

The epicenter, with a depth of 17.20 km, was initially determined to be at 38.6300 degrees north latitude and 143.3035 degrees east longitude.
