There was not any serious fire at the Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery Plant (ORP) and burning waste at the plant caused a smoke over the building, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic's (SOCAR) enterprise said on April 9.
"There was not any serious incident at the plant and only burning waste caused a smoke over the building," the plant said. A fire occurred at 10:00 Baku time on April 9.
There are two oil refinery plants (ORP) in Azerbaijan, including the Heydar Aliyev ORP and Azneftyag ORP. The first ORP produces light oil and the second - dark products. Both ORPs' production capacity is 20 million tons of oil each year. Both ORPs belong to SOCAR which produces roughly 6 million tons of oil each year from offshore and onshore fields by own means.
