Since the beginning of the armed conflict in Syria which was March 2011, up till now, 7500 children have been killed, Al Arabiya TV Channel reported on Friday.
Of them, 4225 were under 10 years old and 55 were under a year. The largest number of dead children fell to Aleppo and its surroundings where 1587 children were killed.
The clashes between the government forces and armed opposition have been continuing in Syria for over two years. According to UN statistics, the total number of victims of the conflict in Syria is more than 100,000 people. The Syrian authorities say that they are opposed by well-armed militants.
Some Western countries, as well as Turkey have already supported intervention in Syria following another escalation of the situation there. On August 21, Media outlets reported on a large-scale deployment of chemical weapons near Damascus by Syrian Government Troops.
According to preliminary data, there are over 600 victims of the attack. The National Coalition of the Syrian Opposition claims that the number of victims could reach 1,300 people. After the incident, the parties of the conflict repeatedly proclaimed their innocence and accused their opponents.
Earlier, the US president declared that the use of chemical weapon is a "red line" for the Assad regime. Media outlets reported on the preparation of the Navy and Air Force of these countries to begin intervention.
