Babayeva / Within the framework of his official visit to Libya, the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with the Foreign Minister of Libya Abd al-Rahman Shalgam and invited him to visit Azerbaijan, the Spokesperson for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Khazar Ibrahim said to Trend .
Shalgam said the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister's visit to Libya would positively affect the bilateral negotiations.
Both Ministers discussed the international and regional issues.
Mammadyarov highly appreciated the role of Libya as a UN Security Council member and thanked his counterpart for the support to Azerbaijan's fair position in the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The importance of expansion of cooperation between the two countries in the field of education, energy and security was mentioned at the meeting. It was decided to launch the bilateral inter-governmental commissions.
