the moment, the number of convicts kept in detention facilities in Turkey is
the highest over the past 39 years, said Justice Minister of Turkey Mehmet Ali
Shahin.
According to Hurriyyet newspaper, nevertheless, the Turkish Government does
not plan to hold an amnesty.
"A lot of such amnesties were held in Turkey, and this has negatively affected
people's attitude to crime, resulting in a growth in their number," the Minister
said.
