Turkish Family and Social Policies Minister, Fatma Sahin said that the punishments for parents forcing their children into early marriages will be toughened, Turkish newspaper Hurriyyet reported on Monday.
According to the report the punishment will be incarceration for 22 years.
The Minister said that Turkey will further continue to seriously fight early marriages.
According to her, the Family and Social Policies Ministry will appeal to the Turkish Parliament to toughen punishments for forced early marriages.
