ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 17. Over 3,000 kilometers of railway tracks have been overhauled in the past six years, said Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov in his article summarizing the presidency of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev over the last six years, Trend reports.

As indicated by the Kazakh government, with the volume of freight transportation by rail growing, the need for maintenance work has also increased. The volume of capital repairs in 2024 compared to 2019 has grown by 41 percent. A total of 3,000 kilometers of railways have been overhauled over the past six years.

"This year, the construction of the second railway track on the Dostyk-Moyinty line will be completed, increasing the capacity from 12 pairs of trains to 60, as well as the bypass railway around Almaty, which will reduce the load on the Almaty railway hub by 40 percent," the statement reads.

The execution of these initiatives will facilitate the augmentation of freight throughput between Europe and China, thereby amplifying the export capacity of our nation.

In Kazakhstan, the logistics of maritime cargo transit have experienced a robust uptick of 20 percent since the year 2019. Notable expansion is being recorded in the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR). Owing to the continuous enhancement of transportation infrastructure, the throughput capacity on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) has escalated sixfold since 2019, reaching 4.5 million tons in 2024, while the export metrics for Kazakhstani commodities have surged twelvefold.
