BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 11. U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports are expected to increase by 3.3 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) in 2025, reaching an average of 15.2 Bcf/d, according to the latest outlook from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), Trend reports.

The growth is driven by two new LNG export facilities - Plaquemines LNG Phase 1 and Corpus Christi LNG Stage 3 - which began production in December 2024. Both plants are continuing to increase their export volumes this year.

Plaquemines LNG is currently producing LNG from all its liquefaction trains in Phase 1, which includes nine blocks with two midscale trains in each. The facility has ramped up exports faster than initially projected, leading the EIA to raise its export forecast by 1.0 Bcf/d compared to last month’s estimate.

Feedgas deliveries for Plaquemines LNG Phase 2 are expected to begin by September 2025 or earlier, potentially supporting further increases in export capacity.

Despite current trade limitations with China, which is not importing U.S. LNG, the EIA does not expect this to significantly impact overall export levels. “We assess that ample global demand for LNG and flexible destination clauses in U.S. LNG contracts mean U.S. LNG exports will be largely unaffected by recent trade policy developments,” the EIA noted.
