ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 16. A total of 76
draft laws are currently under review by deputies, announced Yerlan
Koshanov, the Chairman of Kazakhstan’s Mazhilis (the lower house of
the country's Parliament), during a meeting with President
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Trend reports.
Tokayev got the lowdown on the latest happenings in the chamber's
activities.
"Since the beginning of the session, 62 laws have been adopted and
sent to the Senate, with 55 signed by the President. Among them are
the Water Code, laws on the development of the financial market and
the protection of consumers' rights in financial services, on the
determination of the country of origin of goods, healthcare, and
gambling business," said Koshanov.
In the course of the meeting, it was noted that under the
President's instructions, work is underway on the tax code,
construction code, draft laws on mandatory health insurance, the
development of high-tech regions, the optimization of criminal
procedure legislation, and artificial intelligence.
The chairman of the Mazhilis reported on the results of the first
reading of the draft new Tax Code and the work on legislative
support for the president's instructions given at the National
Kurultai meeting in Burabay.
As reported to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, plenary sessions were held to
review citizens' appeals addressed to state authorities during the
deputies' visits to regions, as well as issues related to the
implementation of the president's political reforms.
Tokayev was also presented with information on the implementation
of AMANAT party projects—"Deb"t-Free Society," "Village’s
Heritage," "Land’s Heritage," and "School of Akims."
Additionally, Yerlan Koshanov reported on the results of
parliamentary diplomacy. Thus, the Parliament's delegation
participated in the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union
in Tashkent, where they presented information on the implementation
of President Tokayev's reforms aimed at ensuring social justice.
Active work is also being carried out through the Parliamentary
Assembly of the CSTO, TurkPA, the IPA CIS, and other
inter-parliamentary organizations.
