BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 27. Azerbaijan allocated 5.34 billion manat ($3.1 billion) from the state budget for the reconstruction and restoration of its liberated territories in 2024.
Data obtained by Trend from the draft law on the execution of the state budget of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2024 shows that of the total amount, 4.82 billion manat ($2.83 billion) (90.2 percent) were earmarked as targeted funds for reconstruction, 230 million manat ($135.2 million) (4.3 percent) came from the "Roads" targeted budget fund, 100 million manat ($58.8 million) (1.9 percent) were designated for special defense-related projects, and 191.7 million manat ($112.7 million) (3.6 percent) were allocated from other budget reserves.
The majority of the funding—4.86 billion manat ($2.85 billion)—was directed toward infrastructure projects, including 3.96 billion manat ($2.32 billion) for road infrastructure (3.73 billion manat ($2.19 billion) for highways and 233.3 million manat ($137.2 million) for railways), 497.6 million manat ($292.6 million) for the construction and renovation of residential complexes, and landscaping work.
Other allocations included 299.3 million manat ($176 million) for new hydroelectric power plants and energy hubs, 18.3 million manat ($10.7 million) for cadastre services, 50 million manat ($29.4 million) for the development of industrial parks and related infrastructure, 2.2 million manat ($1.2 million) for tourism infrastructure, 7.2 million manat ($4.2 million) for solid waste infrastructure, and 22 million manat ($12.9 billion) for the construction of a radio-television broadcasting station.
Additionally, 109.2 million manat ($64.2 million) were allocated for mine clearance, 16.8 million manat ($9.8 million) for the construction and repair of defense and law enforcement facilities, and 354.1 million manat ($208.2 million) were spent on social infrastructure projects, including those in education, healthcare, culture, and sports.
