DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, August 12. Tajikistan’s cotton fiber exports totaled 36,300 tons in the first half of 2025, generating about $54.7 million.
Data obtained by Trend from the country's Statistics Agency shows that Iran remained the dominant customer, accounting for 83.5 percent of total exports, or $45.7 million. Other importers included Russia ($4 million), Türkiye ($2 million), Pakistan ($1.1 million), and China ($300,000).
Overall, Tajikistan's export revenue declined by $40.9 million, or 42.8 percent, compared to the same period in 2024.
Cotton fiber is a vital export commodity for Tajikistan, accounting for a significant share of the country’s agricultural revenue. The cotton industry employs thousands and has traditionally relied on regional markets, with Iran, Russia, Türkiye, Pakistan, and China being key trading partners.
