BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 20. Central Asia and the South Caucasus are uniquely positioned to accelerate digital transformation through enhanced regional cooperation, Leyla Baghirzade, Board Member of the Joint Chambers of Commerce Switzerland–Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and the South Caucasus, said in an exclusive interview with Trend.
According to her, the integration of blockchain, artificial intelligence, and digital finance presents substantial opportunities to enhance transparency, strengthen efficiency, and support sustainable economic growth across the region.
She noted that empowering small and medium-sized enterprises through digital platforms, facilitating stronger connections between investors and innovators, and advancing the green transition are all attainable goals—provided that digital solutions are adapted to global standards while remaining responsive to local requirements.
“Regional cooperation fosters trust, harmonizes regulatory frameworks, and promotes the exchange of knowledge. Through joint initiatives, the sharing of best practices, and co-investment in digital infrastructure, the region can unlock significant synergies and scale innovation, thereby projecting a unified and dynamic presence on the global stage,” Baghirzade emphasized.
Leyla Baghirzade also highlighted the critical role of women leaders in the technology sector. “Women play a pivotal role in ensuring diversity, equitable access, and mentorship for future generations. Their active participation in strategic planning and decision-making is essential to shaping a digital future that genuinely meets societal needs,” she stated.
Baghirzade noted that international recognition further enhances the region’s credibility, attracts global partnerships, and inspires the next generation of professionals to pursue ambitious goals. She also outlined the importance of the Azerbaijani Chapter at the Joint Chamber of Commerce, which is dedicated to advancing bilateral economic relations between Azerbaijan and Switzerland, while also promoting inclusive regional progress.
“We highlight Azerbaijan’s digital achievements within the broader context of regional advancement. Our focus is on collaboration and shared values, positioning the region as an innovative and forward-thinking community,” Baghirzade said.
