ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 9. About 247 billion tenge (about $514.6 million) of investments were attracted to the Zhambyl region of Kazakhstan from January through August 2024, which is almost 1.3 percent more than last year, said the head of the regional executive authority, Yerbol Karashukeyev, Trend reports.
"Since the beginning of the year, 247.3 billion tenge of investments has been attracted, which is almost 1.3% more than last year. The plan by the end of the year is up to 702 billion tenge (about $1.46 billion). The region's investment portfolio includes 70 projects worth 2.5 trillion tenge (about $5.2 billion), which will create 6,300 new jobs," he said at a briefing.
As Karashukeyev noted, this year, 19 projects worth a whopping 228.5 billion tenge (about $475.5 million) are in full swing.
"Of these, 12 were launched for a total of 139 billion tenge (about $289.2 million), creating 405 new jobs. Among the new facilities are a new enrichment plant, a service center for servicing agricultural machinery, a sand gravel plant, and a dairy processing plant," the head of the region said.
He pointed out that the region will soon have production facilities with an area of 40,000 square meters, which will be provided to investors on a turnkey basis. At the moment, 30 percent (about 15,000 square meters) have been booked.
Furthermore, the volume of investments in fixed capital in Kazakhstan in 2023 amounted to 17.6 trillion tenge (about $36.9 billion). The volume of investments increased by 11.2 percent year on year.
At the same time, the volume of domestic investment amounted to 14.3 trillion tenge (about $29.8 billion), which is 13.3 percent more than in 2022.
In addition, the volume of external investments in fixed capital of Kazakhstan in 2023 increased by 3 percent and amounted to 3.37 trillion tenge (about $7.1 billion).
