BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 22. The export of non-oil products from North Khorasan Province, located in the northeast of Iran, decreased by 23 percent in value terms and 17 percent in weight terms in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through December 20, 2024) compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through December 21, 2023), Head of Iran's Customs Administration in North Khorasan Hojjat Imani said, Trend reports.
According to him, a total of 146,000 tons of non-oil products worth $52.5 million were exported from the northern province of Khorasan during the nine months.
The official noted that the exported products were mainly petrochemical products, steel products, sodium hydroxide, tomatoes, washing powder and granules.
Imani added that the products were exported mainly to Afghanistan, Iraq, Georgia and Türkiye.
"22,000 tons of products worth $49.4 million were imported to North Khorasan Province in the nine months. Product imports decreased by 44 percent in terms of value and 84 percent in terms of weight compared to the same period last year. Mainly raw materials, rice, chicken meat and others were imported into the country from Pakistan, China, the UAE and Türkiye," Amani said
Amani reported that the provincial customs revenue for the first nine months reached 747 billion rials (about $1.34 million). This figure represents a 60 percent decline compared to the same period last year.
Additionally, about 400 manufacturing and industrial enterprises operate in Iran's North Khorasan province. These businesses have invested a total of 13 trillion rials (about $23.3 million) and provide employment for 11,000 individuals.
