BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 2. Iran's non-oil exports surged by 19 percent in value and 12.6 percent in weight during the 11 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through February 18, 2025), compared to the same period last year (from March 21, 2023, through February 19, 2025), Foroud Asgari, the deputy head of Iran's Customs Administration (IRICA), told reporters, Trend reports.
According to Asgari, Iran exported non-oil products worth approximately $53.4 billion, totaling 141 million tons, during this period.
Asgari stated that the majority of Iran's exports were directed to seven key countries, with China receiving the highest share at 13.8 billion, followed by Iraq at $11.2 billion, the UAE at $6.6 billion, Türkiye at $6.4 billion, Afghanistan at $2.2 billion, Pakistan at $2.2 billion, and India at $1.8 billion. These seven countries accounted for around 83 percent of Iran's non-oil export value.
The official added in terms of specific products, the highest export values were for natural gas at $6.6 billion, propane at $3.3 billion, and methanol at $2.11 billion.
The Deputy Minister also mentioned that Iran's total non-oil trade turnover reached around $117 billion, with 176 million tons of goods traded. This reflects a year-on-year increase of 11.2 percent in value and 9.2 percent in weight.
To note, Iran has been focusing on increasing its non-oil trade turnover in recent years as part of its economic diversification strategy.
