(IRNA) - Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri here Friday praised Iran's continued support to strengthening of national unity in Beirut.
During a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Beirut Mohammad-Reza Sheibani, Berri outlined latest developments in his country and hoped Lebanon would pass this current sensitive period with the help of the nation's unity and understanding, reports Trend.
Asked about Iran's role in solving political problems in Lebanon, he expressed confidence Iranian officials, particularly its diplomats in its embassy in Beirut, would continue their efforts to reinforce national unity and solidarity in the country.
During the meeting, Berri and Sheibani discussed the visit next week by Berri to Tehran to take part in a conference of parliament speakers of Asian states that will focus on the issue of peace and latest developments in Lebanon and the region.
The Iranian envoy, for his part, expressed his country's support for the holding of consultative meetings between representatives of various Lebanese parties and tribes, and praised Berri's wise approach to settling the crisis in Lebanon.
