Former US national team goalkeeper Kasey Keller has said that he will be ending his career at the end of the 2011 season, DPA reported.
The 41-year-old on Friday signed a one-year extension of his contract with Major League Soccer team Seattle Sounders, but said he was wanting to end his 20-year career thereafter.
"I always said that I only want to play as long as I can compete. And at the moment I have no reason why I should not play for another year," Keller, who spent most of his playing career in Europe, said.
Amongst the clubs he played for where Rayo Vallecano, Bundesliga club Borussia Moenchengladbach, as well as Premier League teams Tottenham Hotspur and Fullham.
Keller, who was the US first choice goalkeeper at the 1998 and 2006 World Cup finals and was also a member of the 2002 squad, has 102 caps.
He transferred to the MLS in 2009 and established the record for the longest clean sheet with 457 minutes.
