The Energy Minister of Kazakhstan, Baktikoja Izmuhambetov, informed Trend Special Correspondent in Astana that Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are working over additional agreements needed for joint oil pumping via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) main export oil pipeline.

The documents can be signed next year, as well as in 2008, he said.

Earlier, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan had signed an intergovernmental agreement on joint oil pumping via the pipeline. It is necessary to develop and sign a transport agreement. Some participants in Kazakhstan Kashagan project were committed to deliver oil via BTC.

The first oil from Kashagan field will run no earlier than 2008. In parallel we plan to construct new ports, Mr. Izmuhambetov said.

Azerbaijan will have to build a new port in Kurik and construct oil pipelines for oil delivery from Kazakhstan.
