ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 29. Kazakhstan is reducing its import dependence on software products and telecommunication equipment, including modems, switches, routers, and telephones, while creating conditions for their export, Trend reports.
Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov visited enterprises in the city of Astana to review the development of the metallurgy, light, and construction industries, as well as the automotive and railway engineering sectors.
The Prime Minister received a briefing on Astana's socio-economic development at the Industrial Park. He also toured the production workshops of the "Digital System Service" factory, located in an area of 7,500 square meters. The factory produces telecommunication equipment, including modems, switches, routers, telephones, and stations for home, office, and industrial use. The plant operates a full production cycle, from software development to assembly and packaging of finished products.
After modernization, the plant's capacity has increased to 720,000 units per year, with the possibility of scaling up to 805,000 devices. The total amount of investment in the plant’s development since its establishment in 2005 is approximately $4.5 million. Currently, the production provides stable employment for 100 employees.
The product line of Digital System Service is currently widely available in the Kazakhstan market. The company's development plans include expansion into foreign markets, including Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Arab countries.
As of the first half of the year, the gross regional product (GRP) of Astana reached $11 billion, surpassing last year’s figure for the same period by 7 percent. Small and medium-sized businesses account for 72 percent of the regional gross product. Over the first 10 months of this year, approximately $2.6 billion in investments were attracted to Astana, while industrial production increased by nearly 7 percent compared to 2023.
