ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 2. Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting of the Commission on Demonopolization of the Economy, which reviewed the implementation of the Presidential Decree “On measures to liberalize the economy”, Trend reports.
In the course of the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin reported on ongoing efforts to reduce the state's share in the economy and increase the contribution of medium-sized businesses to GDP.
According to him, state participation in the economy is planned to be limited to only socially significant and strategic sectors. Chairman of the Agency for Protection and Development of Competition Marat Omarov spoke about the measures being taken to eliminate barriers hindering competition.
"Following the meeting, a pool of 475 state-involved business entities was approved for privatization, consolidation, or liquidation. The work will be carried out in stages through 2030, with more than half of the enterprises included in the action plan for 2025–2026," the press service of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan stated.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the implementation of the Decree must be completed within the set deadlines. The work is under strict supervision.
