BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 20. The volume of cargo transported through Iranian airports fell by 17 percent during the first half of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through September 22, 2025) compared to the same period of the last year (from March 20 through September 21, 2024).
The data obtained by Trend from the Iran Airport and Air Navigation Company (IAC) shows that during the reporting period, this figure tipped the scales at 33,300 tons, down from the 40,000 tons seen in the first half of last year.

The majority of cargo was transported through Iran's Mashhad Airport with 17,300 tons, Shiraz Airport with 5,320 tons, and Tabriz Airport with 2,490 tons.
A total of 54 civilian airports operate in Iran. Of these, 14 are international airports. Iranian airports transport an average of 30 million passengers annually.
