Opening of the European Regional Capacity Building Office of the World Customs Organization (WCO) today in Baku is an indicator of Azerbaijan's active position in cooperation in customs sphere, WCO Secretary General Kunio Mikuriya said at an international conference on combating drug trafficking on Monday in Baku.
"Azerbaijan has achieved great successes in combating drug trafficking and application of information technologies and other control means," Mikuriya said.
The World Customs Organization expects further development of cooperation with Azerbaijan, he said.
According to the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee Chairman Aydin Aliyev, the World Customs Organization and the United Nations assess the conference held today in Baku as the event of the year in the sphere of combating drug.
"The conference is attended by about 90 foreign guests from 42 countries and seven international organizations," Aliyev said.
The International conference on combating drug trafficking has today kicked off in Baku.
The conference is organized by the World Customs Organization, Azerbaijani State Customs Committee and the United Nations.
