Uzbekistan, Tashkent, June 20 / Trend D.Azizov /
During this year and 2013, Uzbekistan will demolish 414 vacant and unusable state-owned facilities, will privatise 532 facilities through public auctions and will sell out 47 facilities to foreign investors at zero redemption value. This is to enable the adoption of investment commitments to create new industries, according to the decree of the Government 'On additional measures for further effective use and disposal of state property facilities'.
According to the document, another 47 vacant multi-story facilities will be donated to companies to conduct major repairs and be sold in the future as housing. Moreover, 20 per cent of the established housing stock will be handed over to the district and municipal governments to provide housing for socially vulnerable groups, particularly older children, orphans and children of deceased servicemen.
The decree also approved a programme of measures for the rational use of 147 vacant and unused facilities of state property.
It is expected that the implementation of the measures provided for by the decree, will lead to a large scale attraction of foreign investment for technical and technological modernisation and an increase on this basis in the manufacture of competitive and import substituting products as well as increase employment and welfare.
