"Establishment of four special economic zones in the cities of Meybod, Mehriz, Bafgh and Abarkuh of Yazd province have been approved by the parliament,” said Iranian Member of Parliament.
“The decision was made by the parliament due to the existing capacities, including railways and other important transportation routes in these areas,” Mohammadreza Sabaghian added, Trend reports citing IRNA.
“Providing a new strategic context for development of the province to increase production and exports, upgrading technology and attracting foreign capital, carrying out productive commercial activities to increase commodity exports are the goals and benefits of creating the special economic zone,” said the MP.
"They also include delivering optimal services for active participation in regional, international and domestic markets, creation of new job opportunities and reduction of the production costs,” added Sabaghian.
“Customs tax exemption, import of machinery, equipment and tools without customs duties, issuance of the license for construction for free are among other advantages of the initiative,” the MP added.
Sabaghian said that the special economic zone also provides opportunities for investors.
“In addition to the custom and other privileges offered to the investors, there are facilities and infrastructure that can attract investments and contribute to the development of the Yazd province,” he noted.
