TEHRAN, Iran, June 15. Iran and Turkmenistan signed new custom agreements including a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for electronic information exchange, Trend reports citing ILNA.
Iran and Turkmenistan's customs officials signed the agreements to facilitate the customs formalities and increase trade and passenger transportation.
"Iranian government's priority is to interact with neighboring countries and Turkmenistan has a special position. The visit of Turkmen officials to Iran would lead to good achievements," said Director General of Iran Customs Administration Alireza Moghadasi during the meeting with his Turkmen counterpart.
Agreements included the development of trade ties via customs, reopening of Bajgiran border crossing and border markets, permits for Iranian and non-Iranian truck drivers to enter Turkmenistan, and joint visits to border customs.
