ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, August 21. Turkmenistan ranks first in the supply of pipeline natural gas to China, Trend reports.
According to official data, Turkmenistan supplied natural gas worth $5.58 billion via pipelines to China from January through July of this year, while increasing by 10 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
Russia ranks second in terms of gas exports to China after Turkmenistan, followed by Myanmar with an increase of 17.6 percent to $861.81 million.
In addition to Turkmenistan, Central Asian gas exporters to China are Kazakhstan (down 5.4 percent to $614.32 million) and Uzbekistan (down 41.6 percent to $295.3 million).
At the moment, Turkmenistan supplies its gas to China through three gas pipelines, passing through Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan before reaching China. The total capacity of these pipelines is 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
