The volume of loans issued by Georgian commercial banks (excluding interbank loans) in February 2021 increased by 258.56 million lari ($77.6 million) or by 0.68 percent compared to the previous month and constituted 38.43 billion lari ($11.5 billion) by March 1, 2021, Trend reports via the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).
According to the National Bank of Georgia, the volume of loans in national currency increased by 186.87 million lari ($56.09 million) and the volume of loans in foreign currency increased by 71.69 million lari ($21.5 million) or by 0.34 percent in the same period.
“By the end of February 2021, the total volume of national currency denominated loans to resident legal entities issued by commercial banks amounted to 5.38 billion lari ($1.6 billion), and foreign currency denominated loans constituted 13.31 billion lari ($3.9 billion).
During February 2021, the volume of lending to resident household sector increased by 1 percent or 187.48 million lari ($33.5 million), and constituted 18.95 billion lari ($5.6 billion) by March 1, 2021.
"Larization ratio for total loans constituted 44.33 percent by March 1, 2021 and increased by 0.19 percentage point (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 0.36 percentage point), compared to February 1, 2021”, the NBG’s report reads.
