Turkmenistan's Lebap region notes increase in agricultural cultivation

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, July 30. Farmers of the Lebap region located in the east of Turkmenistan increased agricultural production year-on-year from January through June this year, Trend reports.

According to official data, 53,300 tons of vegetables, 15,300 tons of fruits, 14,700 tons of other fruits and vegetables, and 79,500 tons of potatoes were produced in the region during the reporting period.

In particular, compared to the same period last year, the annual production of vegetables increased by 12 percent, vegetables by 7.4 percent, and other fruits and vegetables by 1.4 percent.

Meanwhile, the development of Turkmenistan's agricultural sector is an important strategic factor for the country's economic growth.

With the overcoming of climatic and geographical challenges, Turkmenistan is actively investing in agriculture, supporting modern technologies, the introduction of effective methods of cultivation, and the development of agricultural infrastructure.
