A number of Ukrainian companies have expressed willingness to invest in Iran's South Pars gas field, the managing director of Pars Special Economic Energy Zone Organization said here on Wednesday.
Seyyed Pirouz Mousavi said that, "eight foreign industrial groups have declared their readiness for investing and carrying out projects in the zone."
A delegation of Ukraine's energy sector has visited South Pars gas field to examine the upstream and downstream investment opportunities of Iran's oil and gas industry, Press TV reported on Monday
The group, consisting of 11 senior staffers of Ukrainian companies, toured the ongoing projects of Pars Special Energy Economic Zone in Assaluyeh in the southern province of Bushehr on Sunday, Iranian Oil Ministry's official news network Shana reported.
They also held a meeting with the managers of Pars Special Energy Economic Zone and were briefed on the investment opportunities of the region.
The delegation examined ways to cooperate in the areas of design of oil and gas pipelines, oil exploitation from old wells, refinery equipment and automation of oil and gas industries.
In their one-day tour of Assaluyeh, they visited phases 4, 5, 15 and 16 of Pars Port Complex and a number of petrochemical complexes of the region.
The South Pars field has 14 trillion cubic meters of natural gas - about eight percent of the world's reserves - and more than 18 billion barrels of liquefied natural gas resources.
Iran discovered 13 new oil and gas fields with in-place reserves of 14 billion barrels of oil and 45 trillion cubic feet of natural gas from August 2009 to August 2010, Iran's Oil Ministry reported.
