The Italian football federation (FIGC) on Tuesday renewed the contract of Italy coach Roberto Donadoni until 2010, but he will only stay on in the case of a good result at Euro 2008, dpa reported.
The announcement came as Donadoni unveiled his 24-player provisional squad for the June 7-29 event in Austria and Switzerland.
Under the new deal, both FIGC and Donadoni can terminate the deal within 10 days of the end of the European championship.
"It is an acknowledgement of the work I have done," repubblica.it quoted Donadoni as saying. "If Euro 2008 goes badly, I will leave. A severance clause is not necessary."
