A powerful tornado swept through seven districts of Bangladesh Monday afternoon leaving at least 12 people killed, more than 150 injured and standing crops damaged, Xinhua reported.
The pre-summer tornado lashed scores of villages in Bangladesh' s northern districts of Jamalpur, Thakurgaon, Sherpur, Mymensingh, Gaibandha, Joypurhat and Bogra on Monday afternoon and evening.
Most of the deaths occurred due to house or wall collapse, local administrations said.
Besides, several hundred of thatched houses were battered, structures destroyed, huge crops damaged and innumerable trees and electric poles uprooted during the storm.
