Not only Azerbaijani citizens can participate in the elections

Azerbaijan, Baku, 4 February / Trend corr. S.Ilhamgizi / Persons who are not Azerbaijani citizens but have lived in the country for five years may participate in the elections, Natik Mammadov, the secretary in the Central Election Commission (CEC) stated during the press-conference on 4 February.

According to Mammadov, the process of determining the exact number of voters began on 1 January and continues until 30 May.

CEC secretary said that the names of persons, who do not have the Azerbaijani citizenship, but have been living in Azerbaijan for five years, will be included on the election list.

Voters who have moved should register their new address. Mammadov added that persons, who do not reside in their registered address, also will be able to vote.

CEC chairman added that the list for imprisoned persons has been developed. "Common and temporarily election lists have been developed in Azerbaijan in order to specify the number of voters. The temporary list will include the names of citizens in military units and prisons," Mammadov said.

Mammadov said that CEC establishes special election centres 25 or 35 days before the elections for people in prisons
