Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated to the 5th conference of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Tourism Ministers that opened in Baku on 11 September that events organized by the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) actually consolidate the active relationships among Islamic countries.
Azerbaijan takes an active part in the organization and is an initiator of many events. Thus, the tourism conference is the second OIC event held in Baku in 2006 following a meeting of the Foreign Ministers (19-21 June).
The OIC unites the Islamic world, the role of which is increasing constantly. At present it assumes great significance. Our joint responses, attitude towards the development taken place worldwide makes tremendous impact. We should jointly compile and shape attitude towards the developments in the region and worldwide, the head of state emphasized. The events organized b Azerbaijan, including the tourism conference, are helpful in introducing Azerbaijan to the world. We are keen on deepening the mutual relationships, he stressed.
The President sated that Azerbaijan is a rapidly developing country from the political, as well as economic point of view. Last year the country ranked the top place for economic development, he stressed. Respectively, Azerbaijan consolidates the financial capacities, which enables it to develop all sphere of economy, the President added.
