ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 20. KazMunayGas is enhancing its projects in the Aktobe region, focusing on the development of the Urikhtau gas condensate field, Trend reports.
During a working trip to the Aktobe region, the Chairman of the Board of JSC NC KazMunayGas, Askhat Khassenov, held a production meeting at Urikhtau Operating LLP.
Currently, the main activity is focused on the Eastern Urikhtau field, which was put into industrial development in November 2023. This has allowed a significant increase in the supply of commercial and liquefied gas to the Aktobe region.
By 2025, Urikhtau Operating has been tasked with increasing production volumes to 92,000 tons of oil and 58 million m³ of gas.
In the course of the meeting, issues related to preparations for the full-scale development of the Central Urikhtau field, which has significant natural gas reserves, were discussed. Its development will allow the extraction of up to 1 billion m³ of gas per year at peak production.
In the third quarter of 2025, the testing of two gas wells is planned to further update the geological-hydrodynamic model of the field and complete the feasibility study of the project.
Following the meeting, Khasenov instructed to take all necessary measures to achieve the planned production targets, improve operational efficiency, and reduce costs.
"In the context of annual gas consumption growth, KMG prioritizes the increase of gas resources. Given the high social importance for the Aktobe region and other regions of the republic, the prompt commissioning of the gas condensate part of the Urikhtau field is a top priority," Khassenov emphasized.
In general, KMG will continue to implement strategic initiatives, including those aimed at developing the gas industry and ensuring the country's energy security.
KazMunayGas produced 84,000 tons of oil and 54 million m³ of related petroleum gas in 2024.
