ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 3. With a monthly increase of 1.5 percent indicating yearly inflation growth, Kazakhstan's February 2025 annual inflation rate was 9.4 percent, Trend reports citing data from the Bureau of National Statistics of Kazakhstan.

For comparison, the annual inflation rate for January 2025 was 8.9 percent, with a monthly increase of 1.1 percent.

According to the Bureau of Kazakhstan’s National Statistics, prices for paid services in Kazakhstan rose by 14.1 percent over the year (compared to 13.8 percent in January 2025), non-food goods increased by 8.7 percent (compared to 8.4 percent in January 2025), and food products rose by 6.5 percent (compared to 5.8 percent in January 2025).

Compared to February 2024, tariffs for cold water increased by 70.7 percent, electricity by 21 percent, central heating by 18.2 percent, wastewater by 17.3 percent, hot water by 14.5 percent, gas transported through distribution networks by 13.2 percent, and waste removal by 11.1 percent.

Prices for services related to comprehensive leisure increased by 34 percent, communication services by 14.3 percent, hairdressing and personal services by 12.3 percent, healthcare services by 11.8 percent, catering services by 10.8 percent, technical maintenance and repair of personal vehicles by 10.5 percent, and services for recreation and sports events by 9.8 percent. The cost of train travel rose by 20 percent, air passenger transport by 12.5 percent, and city bus fares by 10.5 percent. Rent prices increased by 16.5 percent.

Prices for potatoes rose by 62.1 percent, onions by 27.3 percent, cabbage by 20.2 percent, mineral and drinking water by 17 percent, confectionery by 14.2 percent, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products by 13 percent, soft drinks by 12.6 percent, processed and canned fish by 12.5 percent, butter by 12.2 percent, and fruit and vegetable juices by 10.6 percent. However, the prices for buckwheat decreased by 20.4 percent, carrots by 6.6 percent, rice by 5.7 percent, and eggs by 5.3 percent.

Regionally, in February 2025, eight regions saw inflation rates higher than the national average, with the highest rates observed in Astana (12.7 percent), Akmola (10.7 percent), and West Kazakhstan (10.5 percent) regions.

The largest contributors to the annual inflation rate were food products and non-alcoholic beverages (2.5 percentage points), housing services (1.9 percentage points), healthcare (1.1 percentage points), and clothing and footwear (1 percentage point).

Inflation slowed down in 2024, dropping from 9.8 percent in 2023 to 8.6 percent. The country's National Bank aims to stabilize inflation around five percent in the medium term.
