ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 12. In 2024, with an eye on the ball for potential floods, the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of Kazakhstan rolled up their sleeves and got down to brass tacks, repairing 74 hydraulic structures, Trend reports via the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of Kazakhstan.

“In 16 regions of the country, 384 dams with a total length of 584 km have been repaired and constructed. Additionally, in collaboration with local akimats (authorities), 57 projects for the construction, reconstruction, and restoration of protective dams and hydraulic structures are being implemented in 84 settlements in six regions: Akmola, Aktobe, West Kazakhstan, Pavlodar, North Kazakhstan, and Kostanai. These works will ensure the safety of 359,000 people,” the ministry reported.

Nurlan Aldamzharov, Vice Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, stated that all reservoirs in Kazakhstan are functioning according to pre-approved timetables, with continuous monitoring of water levels and 24-hour duty shifts.

In 2024, a comprehensive multifactorial assessment was executed across 84 water management infrastructures spanning 14 distinct regions within the territory of Kazakhstan. At present, a comprehensive array of multifactorial assessments is being orchestrated for a total of 105 hydraulic infrastructures.
