ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 2. Kazakhstan's annualized inflation rate in April amounted to 10.7 percent, Trend reports via the Bureau of National Statistics of Kazakhstan.
According to information, in April, the prices for paid services increased by 15.7 percent year-on-year, non-food products rose by 8.9 percent, and food products increased by 8.5 percent.
The monthly consumer price index in April was 1.2 percent (compared to 1.3 percent in March). Prices for paid services rose by 1.9 percent, food products by 1.1 percent, and non-food products by 0.6 percent.
“In the housing and communal services sector, tariffs for garbage collection increased by 4.5 percent. Bathhouse services became 5 percent more expensive, hairdressing and beauty salon services increased by 2.6 percent, and catering services by 2 percent. Prices for internet services and cinema tickets rose by 4 percent, sanatoriums by 3.8 percent, medical laboratories and X-ray services by 2.5 percent, and dental services by 2.1 percent,” clarified economists of the Bureau of National Statistics.
The information indicates that, food prices increased for: cabbage by 20.2 percent, beetroot by 11.7 percent, onions by 11.5 percent, carrots by 9.2 percent, potatoes and lemons by 7.1 percent, olive oil by 6.6 percent, grapes by 6.5 percent, sweet peppers by 5.9 percent, salted herring by 4 percent, lamb by 3.3 percent, beef and sugar by 2.2 percent. Price decreases were recorded for cucumbers by 14.3 percent, tomatoes by 5 percent, oatmeal by 4.3 percent, oranges by 2 percent, rice by 0.4 percent, and eggs by 0.3 percent.
Among the regions, the highest monthly inflation was registered in the Turkestan region, the cities of Almaty and Shymkent, at 1.5 percent (0.3 percentage points higher than the national average), and the lowest was in the Akmola region, at 0.7 percent.
In March, annual inflation in Kazakhstan accelerated to 10 percent, which became the highest year-on-year inflation rate since November 2023.
