ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 12. Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates plan to expand technological cooperation with the agreement that will be signed between the nations, Trend reports.
Zhaslan Madiev, Kazakhstan's Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry, shared details of the agreements to be signed today between the two countries on the sidelines of the presidential residence.
Meanwhile, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is on an official visit to Kazakhstan's Astana.
“We are signing several agreements today. The first is for the construction of a supercomputer cluster in Kazakhstan. This will be a large supercomputer, the first in the region, based on NVIDIA chips. This supercomputer will help train artificial intelligence models and can be useful for startups, as their products are based on artificial intelligence. It will also be available for universities to conduct research, as well as government bodies that are launching their agents, which are popular nowadays,” the minister said.
According to him, banks, businesses, and telecom operators will also gain access to computational power.
“This is a very important initiative because infrastructure is one of the key components for the development of artificial intelligence in the country. Therefore, the state, by acquiring and bringing this equipment, launching it, will provide the necessary conditions for the market to develop artificial intelligence products,” Madiyev noted.
He also emphasized that the second area of cooperation is the construction of a data center.
“This is a so-called data center in Astana to support the Smart City Astana project. This is a TR-3 level data center, with about 70 racks and approximately 3 megawatts of power. We expect this infrastructure to be built this year,” the minister said.
Another joint project is the launch of a situational center at the International Artificial Intelligence Center Alem AI this year to support Smart City and AI-driven government projects, where collaboration between business, government, and universities will take place for the implementation of artificial intelligence in various sectors of the economy.
Zhaslan Madiyev added that the total value of the agreements related to technology will exceed $250 million.
