BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 15. Azerbaijani residents spent 902.9 million manat ($531.1 million) on alcoholic beverages and tobacco products from January through April 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistical Committee indicates that this marks an increase of 21.3 million manat ($12.5 million), or 2.4 percent, compared to the same period in 2024 (881.6 million manat ($518.5 million)).
Meanwhile, spending on these goods accounted for 4.9 percent of the country’s total retail trade turnover during the reporting period.
Azerbaijan's retail trade network sold products worth 18.4 billion manat (about $10.8 billion) to consumers from January through April 2025. This included 10.3 billion manat ($6.1 billion) worth of food products, beverages, and tobacco goods, and 8.1 billion manat ($4.8 billion) in non-food items.
Compared to the same period last year, the retail trade turnover increased by 3.7 percent in real terms, with food products, beverages, and tobacco goods rising by 1.6 percent, and non-food goods increasing by 6.4 percent.
