Georgia's insurance sector finishes another quarter with a loss, Georgian Statistics Service said on Friday.

According to the report, a loss recorded in the first 9 months of this year is more than 7 million lari ($ 1 = 1.65 lari).

For the first time in recent years the country's insurance sector experienced loss in late first half of 2011. Expert then explained it mostly with the involvement of insurance companies in the hospital sector.

Only by late 2011 the insurance sector is supposed to open 30 new hospitals. Some of them have been already commissioned.

With regard to the market leader, it is "GPI Holding". Premiums attracted by the company amounted to 45.125 million lari over three quarters of 2011. The company controls 17.14 percent of the total market.

"Aldagi BCI" ranks second, whose share in the market hits 17.11 percent. It was able to attract 45.040 million lari.

"Imedi L" ranks third, which holds 16.25 percent of the market. Its attracted premiums amounted to 42.765 million lari.

In total, 15 insurance companies attracted 263.143 million lari over three quarters of 2011.
