The Turkmen state owns about 1.5 million sheep, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported.
Sheep lambing started in the flocks at the pastures of Turkmenistan in late February, and will continue until April.
The Murgab oasis is considered an animal breeding center of Turkmenistan. Sheep of the Karakul and Saraja breeds are mainly grown in Turkmenistan, and the majority of the breeding farms specialize in the cultivation of more prolific Karakul sheep. The Saraja breed is used to produce meat and white semi-rough wool for carpet weaving.
Appraisal of the offspring is carried out according to color, type and class of the sheep wool in the Karakul flocks.
Earlier it was reported that the total area of pastures is approximately 38.1 million hectares in Turkmenistan.
