Uzbekenergo plans to build a hydropower plant (HPP) with a capacity of 100 MW on the Chatkal river in the Tashkent region until 2015, a source at the company told Trend today.
A preliminary feasibility study of the project worth $105.5 million is under completion. Based on the preliminary calculations, the plant with a capacity of 100 MW and generation of up to 350 million kW / h of electricity per year will be built using natural watercourses.
The project is expected to be financed through the credit of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan, own funds of Uzbekenergo and Uzbek banks' loans.
The company will launch construction of the NijniChatkal HPP in the first half of 2012. The company intends to launch a tender for the purchase of necessary equipment for the construction of the station by late 2012.
