BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 14. The World Bank (WB) has confirmed its support for Kyrgyzstan's energy sector reform, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan.
During the Annual Meeting of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kyrgyz Minister of Economy and Commerce Daniyar Amangeldiev, Ministe of Finance Almaz Baketayev, and IMF Advisor Tolkunbek Abdygulov met with WB and IMF leadership.
A number of issues were considered during the meetings, including prospects for cooperation in energy, transport, agribusiness, tourism and development of private sector.
"World Bank confirmed its support for the reform of the energy sector of Kyrgyzstan, as well as assistance to the Cabinet of Ministers in mitigating the consequences of the global food and energy crisis, rising inflation," the ministry said.
Notably, the Annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is currently being held in Washington, from October 10 through October 16, 2022.
