Turkmenistan appoints ambassador in Tajikistan

Chary Atayev has been appointed Turkmenistan's extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador in Tajikistan according to a decree of the Turkmen president.

The diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on Jan. 27, 1993.

The two countries of Central Asia cooperate closely in the fuel and energy, transportation and communication spheres.

In particular, the two countries practically implement large-scale projects on the construction of Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Tajikistan-Kyrgyzstan-China gas pipeline, as well as the construction of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan railway.

Tajikistan buys oil products, refined cottonseed oil and cement from Turkmenistan. Turkmenistan, in turn, imports consumer goods, aluminum, agricultural products.

The two countries have established a partnership in the fields of railway transportation and international highway service.
